Outreach Projects

At GYCN, our programs are more than activities—they are lifelines. Each initiative is designed to address a real problem facing Sierra Leone’s children and youth, while also contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)— making them globally relevant and impactful.

Feeding the Needy

Food is one of the most basic human needs, yet many families in Sierra Leone—especially those living in slums and rural villages—go days without a proper meal. Through our Feeding the Needy Program, we purchase food supplies such as rice, onions, oil, and other essentials and distribute them to families in need. This initiative goes beyond giving food—it restores dignity and hope. Many of the families we reach are single mothers, elderly caretakers, or children who have lost parents. By addressing hunger, we give them the strength to pursue education, work, and other opportunities.

EngMath Competition

Education is the foundation of empowerment. In Sierra Leone, English and Mathematics are the two core subjects every student must pass in order to progress to higher education or succeed in professional life. Unfortunately, many schools lack the resources to prepare students adequately. The EngMath Competition is designed to inspire academic excellence by creating a competitive platform where pupils can showcase their knowledge in English and Mathematics. EngMath is not just a contest—it is an educational movement that motivates schools to raise standards and prepares students for a brighter academic future.

Health Drive: Say No to Kush

Drug abuse, especially the spread of “Kush” in Sierra Leone, has destroyed countless lives, particularly among young men. Many youths who could have been doctors, engineers, and leaders are now trapped in addiction. Our Say No to Kush Program addresses this national crisis by:

✓Conducting community sensitizations on the dangers of drug abuse.

✓Engaging directly with affected youths, offering counseling, guidance, and brotherly support.

✓Providing food assistance and small relief packages to addicts in recovery.

✓Advocating for the establishment of rehabilitation centers.

Our program has already saved lives by encouraging young people to fight addiction and choose a better path.

Health Drive: School Health Sensitization

Good health is the gateway to a productive life. Many youth in Sierra Leone lack knowledge about diseases, personal hygiene, and reproductive health. This often leads to health challenges that could have been prevented. Our Health Life Program visits schools and communities to provide health education. We cover critical areas such as: ✓Understanding and preventing Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).

✓Promoting personal hygiene and sanitation.

✓Raising awareness about mental health and its impact on young people.

✓Encouraging healthy lifestyle choices for long-term well-being.

Through Health Life, we equip young people with knowledge that saves lives, enabling them to make informed and safe decisions about their health.

“At Global Youth and Children's Network, we believe every child has the potential to transform their community. Sometimes all it takes is someone to believe in them, guide them, and give them the chance to learn and grow. We want to be that source of hope and encouragement, helping young people rise with purpose and lead with kindness and courage.”

Ascendancy Mentorship Program

One of the greatest gaps among young people in Sierra Leone is the absence of mentorship. Many youths grow up without role models to guide them, leaving them vulnerable to poor decisions, crime, and hopelessness. Our Ascendancy Mentorship Program connects children and youth with credible mentors, locally and internationally, who share life stories, guidance, and inspiration. These mentors include leaders, professionals, and role models who once faced challenges but overcame them. Through mentorship, mentees gain access to personalized advice, skill development, and career insights from their mentors. The Global Youth and Children’s Network helps empower young individuals by providing them with invaluable guidance and support.

Back to School

The Global Youth and Children's Network Back to School Program is a heartwarming initiative dedicated to giving every child in Sierra Leone the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Recognizing that many families struggle to afford basic school supplies, the Global Youth and Children’s Network provides essential materials such as books, backpacks, and stationery to children in need. This program not only equips students with the tools they need for academic success but also restores hope and confidence in their educational journey. By easing the financial burden on families, Global Youth and Children's Network empowers young learners to focus on their studies and pursue their dreams, helping to break the cycle of poverty through the power of education. Each donation and act of support brings a child one step closer to a brighter future.
